This document summarizes a clinician’s published review and reflects expert opinion rather than peer-reviewed evidence. Specifications, pricing, and software are as reported at the time of publication (November 2025) and may change.
1. Overview
The Medit i900 was Medit’s entry into the premium scanner segment. Dr. Ahmad Al-Hassiny found its capacitive touch controls problematic and its price a little high. The i900 Classic is described as Medit’s direct response: the same scanner with a physical scan button and a lower price.
The review also covers software developments since the original i900 review, notably Medit SmartX for All-on-X workflows and the orthodontic suite.

3. Scanning Performance & Accuracy
The larger scan window enables faster data capture and a more efficient scan flow, particularly in full-arch and edentulous cases. The software handles soft tissue artifacts well and offers controls such as depth of field and AI filtering aggressiveness.
On accuracy, Dr. Al-Hassiny ranks the i900 line among the most accurate scanners tested at iDD, including full-arch and All-on-X cases using horizontal scan bodies.
4. Software Updates
- Medit SmartX (All-on-X): A workflow for full-arch implant cases that supports several horizontal scan body systems. The scan bodies are scanned in place with the arch, then the software removes them and duplicates the scan so the missing areas can be filled in.
- Enhanced Orthodontic Suite: Developed in partnership with Progressive Orthodontics; described as a full workflow with Lat Ceph tracing and orthodontic planning, not only a simulator.
- Refined Medit Link: Over 40 verified integrations, full exocad compatibility, and normal operation on macOS. The MEDIT M mobile app can view scans and manage cases but cannot scan.
5. Target Audience
Ideal for:
- Clinicians who want a premium wired scanner with a large FOV and strong accuracy for full-arch and All-on-X work.
- Practices that value a broad app suite, open integrations, and macOS support.
Consider other options if:
- Edentulous or blood-heavy scanning is the main priority, or a calibration-free scanner is preferred.
- Budget is the main constraint, since the Classic is positioned in the premium segment.
6. Final Thoughts
The Medit i900 Classic is the scanner the original i900 was meant to be: a refined, reliable premium product with fast scanning, light ergonomics, and class-leading accuracy, now with a physical button. Dr. Al-Hassiny sees Medit’s software as its strongest differentiator.
