This document summarizes a clinician’s published review and reflects expert opinion rather than peer-reviewed evidence. Specifications and software configurations are as reported at the time of publication (October 2026) and may change.

1. Overview

Medit has launched the Medit iE, a wired intraoral scanner built on the i900 platform. It features the same 3rd-generation optical engine, weight (165g), dimensions (223.4 × 36.7 × 35.3 mm), and field of view (FOV 18 × 15 mm) as the i900 Classic.

The key differences lie in the surrounding configuration and software. Designed primarily for standard "Scan and Send" workflows, the iE excludes All-on-X scanning, offers a shorter base warranty, and turns certain bundled software into paid add-ons.

2. What is the Medit iE?

Slogan: "Start with Medit. Evolve with Medit."

It allows clinics to start with basic scan-and-send capabilities and expand software via their Medit account as needed. Hardware changes are minor: a light grey body and a single scan button (similar to the i900 Classic) instead of touch controls.

3. Scanning Performance

The iE retains the i900's core features: 3rd-gen optical engine, 10-bit imaging, metal scan filter, adaptive anti-fogging, and fast preheating. In clinical testing, scanning feel and accuracy were identical to the i900.

4. Comparison: Medit iE vs. Medit i900 Classic

5. Target Audience

Ideal for:

  • Practices needing high-accuracy "Scan and Send" without extra apps.
  • Existing Medit users adding a 2nd or 3rd scanner for hygiene/examination rooms.
  • Clinics wanting to enter the Medit ecosystem without paying for unused software features.

Consider the i900 Series if you need:

  • All-on-X / full-arch implant scans.
  • Realtime Intelligence quality checks or in-house design apps.
  • Wireless scanning or iPad-based patient consultation.

6. Final Thoughts

The Medit iE delivers flagship-level i900 scanning performance in a streamlined, essential-focused package. It offers clinicians an accessible entry point into the Medit ecosystem.
