This document summarizes a clinician’s published review and reflects expert opinion rather than peer-reviewed evidence. The described functions are as reported at the time of publication (August 2026) and may change.

1. Overview

Medit Orthodontic Suite (MOS) is orthodontic planning software integrated within Medit Link. From an intraoral scan and, optionally, cephalometric radiographs, it generates treatment simulations, performs AI-assisted cephalometric analysis, designs aligner cases, and exports files for in-house fabrication or ordering through Medit Aligners.

The v2.3 update adds three principal functions, along with a set of smaller refinements.

2. New Functions

Function What It Does
Design Service Cases are submitted to Medit’s designers for treatment planning and staging. The returned plan is reviewed and approved within the application, then exported for in-house fabrication or ordered through Medit Aligners.
Custom Staging Per-tooth control of the treatment timeline, with a drag-to-edit interface for adjusting the timing of each movement.
Attachment & Bracket Removal Attachments and brackets are digitally removed from scans. One described use is scanning at the final review appointment so the manufacturer can prepare a retainer before debonding.

Additional Refinements

Tooth-Level Editing: Rotate-and-translate manipulator, improved tooth axis identification, and hinge-axis rotation for mesial and distal movement.

Arch & IPR Control: Arch control points, a minimum interproximal reduction (IPR) step reduced to 0.1 mm, and more reliable interdental blocking for STL export.

Workflow & Library: Orthodontic photo import for coaching requests, an expanded attachment library, automatic eruption bubbles and pontics, and updated bite classification.

3. Target Audience

  • Clinics that want Medit’s designers to produce the treatment plan and staging (Design Service).
  • Clinics designing aligners in-house that want finer control over staging and tooth-level editing.
  • Practices that want a retainer prepared by the manufacturer before debonding.

4. Final Thoughts

MOS v2.3 reflects Medit’s broader shift from hardware-focused innovation toward an integrated digital dentistry ecosystem. By connecting scanning, orthodontic planning, aligner production, and case delivery, Medit is building a more complete workflow for clinicians. While the long-term success of this strategy remains to be seen, it highlights an important trend: differentiation increasingly lies not just in scanner performance, but in the software and services surrounding it.
